J2 PICTURES / J2TV

Actor/Producer Justin Berfield and producer Jason Felts formed J2 Pictures / J2TV in 2004. J2 Pictures and J2TV are both packaging/production companies that have an eye for strong concepts, story and talent. Since both companies’ inception, the mission has not shifted away from J2’s desire to focus on the packaging and production of quality entertainment products within the film, television and online mediums.

Based in Venice, California, the J2 companies are currently in various stages of active development/packaging and production on a slate of film, television and online products. Whether the entertainment medium is film, scripted or unscripted television or online entertainment, J2’s passion is for projects that are conceptually fresh and driven by a strong sense of storytelling. Protecting the vision of writers, creators, and artists is at the heart of the company’s philosophy.

Berfield and Felts’ start in film began in late 2004 when they served as co-producers and investors on the motion picture ROMANCE & CIGARETTES, which starred James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, Kate Winslet, Mandy Moore and Christopher Walken. The critically acclaimed film was written and directed by John Turturro, produced by the Coen Brothers and John Penotti & executive produced by Jana Edelbaum for distribution by United Artists & Icon.

Berfield and Felts’ first venture into television production came in the summer of 2005 when they created and executive produced the unscripted series FILTHY RICH: CATTLE DRIVE for E! Entertainment Television. The “City Slickers” style, challenge-based reality series followed affluent and celebrity offspring as they left their privileged lives and headed to the open range for a100 mile trek with a herd of 200 cattle. The series was broadcast worldwide and although now produced with different challenges and varied cast, the format is still in active production internationally.

J2TV expanded its operation in 2006 with the addition of Harvey Myman who spearheads development. Myman comes to J2TV after serving in both a producer and senior executive capacity at companies including ABC, Carsey-Werner, Columbia/Tri Star Television (Sony), HBO and Touchstone Television.

Berfield has spent most of his life in front of cameras and has starred in over 265 episodes of television. Berfield is most known for portraying the wise-cracking role of ‘Reese’, the second child on FOX’s Emmy award winning series MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE, for its entire seven season run. Prior to portraying Reese, Justin starred as ‘Ross’ on the hit WB comedy series UNHAPPILY EVER AFTER, from the creators of Married with Children for five seasons.

Originally from Texas, Felts moved to California in 1996 and worked in commercial and music video production until the J2 companies were formed.
